An entertainment troupe formed from a mixed bunch of city folk, travels Queensland just after the end of World War I and becomes involved in a series of adventures.

It's 1918 and Mrs Feathertonhaugh-Beauchamp and her children are on the run from her Brisbane creditors. Along with the clergyman's daughter, a young ex-vaudeville dancer, a returned soldier, a Chinese orphan and a genteel spinster, Mrs FB forms the travelling entertainment show, the Ragtime Rovers. From slapstick to spiritual discovery, their unusual adventures take them on a nomadic sweep through Queensland.
